Aluminum Sheet for Signage & Decorative Surfaces

KONCEN supplies mirror, brushed and colour coated aluminium sheet to nameplate makers, signage fabricators and interior panel processors. We supply the substrate — flat, consistently finished and protected for your printing, etching or stamping step.

  • Mirror, brushed and coated sheet from 0.20 mm to 3.00 mm
  • Flatness and surface quality specified for printing and etching, not just for looks
  • Protective film matched to your process, with the de-filming point agreed up front

What nameplate and signage work actually needs

This is a fabrication substrate, not a building panel. The requirements that decide whether a batch runs cleanly are different from a facade order:

Flatness

Thin sheet that is not flat will not register in a printer or hold a mask during etching. Flatness tolerance has to be agreed, not assumed from a nominal thickness.

Surface consistency

Mirror and brushed finishes are judged piece by piece. Streaks, polish lines and handling marks that are invisible on a coil are obvious on a 300 × 300 mm plate.

Process compatibility

UV printing, screen printing, chemical etching, laser marking and stamping each need a different surface and a different film.

Choosing the finish

Finish Character Common signage use
Mirror Bright, reflective, shows every mark; needs film protection through handling Nameplates, decorative lettering, display panels, premium trim
Brushed Directional grain that hides fingerprints better than mirror Control panels, appliance trim, interior signage
Anodised Harder surface, colour in the oxide layer rather than a coating Outdoor plates, architectural signage, wear surfaces
Colour coated RAL or matched colour, uniform gloss Panels, sign backs, interior decoration
Embossed Textured surface, less glare Decorative panels and anti-glare backgrounds

Specification range

Common alloy 1050, 1060, 1100, 3003, 5052 for higher strength
Temper H14, H16, H18, H24 depending on forming and flatness needs
Thickness 0.20 – 3.00 mm
Width / length Coil width up to 1600 mm; cut sheets to your blank size
Tolerance Thickness, width, squareness and flatness agreed per drawing
Protection PE film in grades for printing, etching or general handling
Packing Interleaved or film-protected stacks, moisture barrier, export case

Matching the substrate to the process

  • Printing. Ink adhesion depends on the surface treatment and on the coating, not on the alloy. Tell us the ink system and whether the print is protected by a clear coat.
  • Chemical etching. Etch depth and edge definition depend on thickness and temper. A softer temper etches with a different edge profile than a hard one.
  • Stamping and embossing. Hard tempers hold a crisp edge but crack at tight radii. Prototype a strip before committing to a production coil.
  • Laser marking. Results vary with surface finish; an anodised surface marks differently from a bright mirror face.

Outdoor use

Bare aluminium develops a natural oxide layer, but a mirror finish will not stay mirror-bright outdoors without protection. For exterior plates, agree the finish system: anodised, coated, or a laminated protective face. Tell us the exposure and the expected service life, and we will quote a finish that matches it rather than the brightest one available.

Quality and documents

  • Mill test certificate for alloy and temper
  • Dimensional record including flatness and squareness where specified
  • Surface inspection against an agreed appearance limit
  • Coating weight or film thickness for coated sheet
  • Retained sample per lot, and a first-article sample for approval

Frequently asked questions

Can you cut sheets to our blank size?

Yes. Cut-to-size sheets are quoted with the blank dimensions, grain direction if relevant, and flatness tolerance. Small quantities for a first article are possible.

Will the protective film interfere with printing?

Film is removed before printing. The important point is when it is removed and whether adhesive residue remains; we agree the film grade with that step in mind.

Which finish hides scratches best?

Brushed and embossed finishes hide handling marks far better than mirror. If the part will be handled during installation, this is usually the more practical choice.

Do you supply small orders?

From 1 MT for standard specifications. Prototype and sample quantities are quoted individually and are usually supplied as cut sheet rather than coil.

Send the drawing and the process route

The blank size, the finish and the process step together decide the material. A drawing plus one sentence about how the part is made is usually enough for a first quote.
